About the cottage, a very brief history
Yan Yak, along with Corner Cottage, Cobblers Cottage and Brewery House were all part of the original Jennings Brewery which started brewing in High Lorton in 1828. Across the road Yew Tree Hall, now our Village Hall, was the original malt house.
In 1848 the brewery relocated to Cockermouth into larger premises where it operated until its closure in 2022. It's due to reopen in the near future with new owners. You can find the Brewery near to where the rivers Cocker and Derwent merge in this pretty Georgian market town
